Job Title: Accounting Supervisor Location of Position: Davis, CA - Hybrid work schedule available Reports to (title): Assistant Controller or Controller Job Description Updated: August 23, 2022 SUMMARY: The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures, including ad-hoc projects, as appropriate, while maintaining strict adherence to our Corporate Codes of Conduct
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Essential Functions Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to, preparing complex account reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Compile and analyze financial information to help prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance within the Company's internal controls policies and procedures while meeting required deadlines, supporting internal audit as required.
Leverage on accounting systems to automate activities where practical, and/or streamline those processes that otherwise cannot be automated.
Significant involvement in financial audits, interface with audit senior management, write accounting memos as necessary.
Supervise and develop direct report(s).
ERP Master Data Maintenance
Assess ERP systems and help evaluate and implement as part of the larger team.
Work with other departments to ensure activities are recorded properly in the accounting ledgers and otherwise assist in their review of related data and reconciliations.
Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA/MBA preferred Experience: 10-15 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, or biotech environment, including at least 5 years of management responsibility required;
5 years accounting experience working with an international company preferred
Analytical skills and understanding of accounting principles required;
Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems required, e.g., Oracle Cloud;
Excellent knowledge of sales (sales to cash) and procurement (purchase requisition to payment), as well as, payroll cycles and;
Public company experience highly preferred. Essential Physical and Mental Requirements Physical Requirements: e.g., Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
Ability to extensively use of computer keyboard, mouse and monitor.
Ability to work when necessary, extended daily or weekend hours.
Ability to lift at least 40+/- pounds.
Ability to work collaboratively on a team, as well as, be an independent worker.
Ability to be highly organized, dealing with multiple projects; meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail is essential in this position
Ability to be flexible and highly adaptable to new or changing priorities
Ability to identify issues, impacts and implications and recommend solutions
Ability to showcase excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to provide and maintain open lines of communication with employees from all areas of the organization, providing prompt answers to requests from other departments to determine how to convey concise, clear, and timely selective information Mental Requirements: Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in workload priorities, ability to prioritize tasks, ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work well under pressure without loss of attention to details as many tasks are deadline driven.
Ability to learn new software/new information when necessary in order to complete job duties thoroughly. Travel: Ability to travel by car, train or air either domestically: 1-5%% of the time; travel maximum 1 days per month. Limited to domestic seminars, trainings, conferences in connection with technical updates.
