The Chief Administrative Officer provides administrative leadership
and oversight for the following departments and programs:
Anthropology, Sociology, and Middle East/South Asia Studies and
The Green Cluster is located in the College of Letters and Science.
The cluster supports state and extramural of funds with
expenditures of approximately $7M annually. The unit consists of
approximately 60 senate faculty, over 135 non-Senate academic
employees, 15 staff, 116 graduate student FTE, and 1200
Facilities management related to the organization includes
laboratory, teaching and administrative space totaling 40,000 sf.
distributed throughout 4 different buildings.
Under the guidance of the Department Chairs and Program Directors,
provide leadership, oversight and management to a large and complex
academic cluster including business and finance, contract and grant
administration, academic and staff human resources, teaching and
instructional support, and space.
Actively encourage and participate in training and education of
staff; implement team building with administrative staff and
participate in management meetings with Department Chairs, Program
Directors and other supervisors/managers to discuss
organization-wide issues, concerns and needs. Participate in and
oversees the yearly planning of budget together with Chairs,
Directors, faculty, and staff.

* Three years or more of increasingly responsible business
management experience to manage and oversee a complex and diverse
group of units and programs in the areas of strategic planning and
analysis, financial planning and budget analysis, human resources,
space and facility requirements and information technology.
* Human resource experience to recruit, supervise, train, evaluate,
motivate, resolve problems/conflicts, conduct performance
management, discipline, and build effective service-oriented team
* Strategic planning, analytical and program evaluation skills to
effectively provide sound recommendations, continually examine
systems and develop or revise to accommodate change
* Experience with the development of organizational structures,
delegating, developing policies and procedures and
* Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to share
information with all levels of personnel and with diverse
populations within the Unit, campus and outside agencies.
* Quantitative and analytical skills to prepare statistical
reports, budgets and projections and to interpret reports prepared
* Knowledge of University policy and procedures in all areas
pertinent to academic departments and programs.
