Job Description:
Under supervision, perform centralized accounting functions and
system wide coordination of purchasing and travel activities,
policies and protocols. Act as receptionist to answer/direct
incoming telephone calls and greet and assist visitors.
Budgeted Salary: Initial placement will be between $21.35 -
$23.22/Hour, commensurate with relevant experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work/sit it at a desk/computer for extended periods of time.
Perform repetitive motions (typing, filing, etc.).
Must wear laboratory required/supplied PPE.
This position is subject to UCD's Vaccination Program (Influenza,
SARS-CoV-2) and Medical/Health Surveillance
Program/Procedures/Review in accordance with Federal and State Laws
and Regulations and University Policy.
Must tolerate strong odors and the sight of exposed animal tissues
and blood products.
May, at times, work with or be in areas where biohazardous and
chemical materials and infectious diseases are present. Specific
hazards of the position are, but are not limited to salmonella,
Listeria, E. coli, Campylobacter, hot acids, bases, ethers and
other chemicals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work/sit at a publicly accessible front desk/computer for extended
periods of time.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm (Work schedule
might be slightly different during the training period).
After completion of training, this position may be eligible for up
to one day of remote work per week.
Work flexible schedule/overtime as needed to complete projects and
meet deadlines.
Weekend and holiday rotation.
Restricted/Limited vacation during peak workload periods (i.e.
Outbreaks, Fiscal Close, Audits Periods, etc.).
Occasional travel to CAHFS branch laboratories, conferences,
etc.
THIS IS NOT AN H1B/J1 OPPORTUNITY. Candidate must be legally
permitted to work in the United States and not subject to
revocation.
This is not a research position. The position is located in a
diagnostic laboratory where quality control and assurance as well
as meticulous working habits are essential.
Per the terms and agreements of the department's contracts and
grants, the position requires signing of a Confidentiality
Agreement or Non-Disclosure Agreement regarding testing and client
information.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Knowledge of and experience with accounts payable and general
accounting and purchasing policies and procedures to initiate,
process and complete accounts payable and purchasing documents.
Knowledge of and experience with travel policies and procedures to
coordinate and oversee travel arrangements and process expense
related documents.
Interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills (in
person, in writing and by telephone) to interact effectively and
professionally with a wide variety of individuals including CAHFS
faculty and staff, clients, individuals from other university
units, and government/outside agencies.
Skills working in a front desk environment as well as skills using
a multiline telephone system.
Knowledge and skills to use various computerized financial
information systems as well as software programs such as MS Excel,
Word, Outlook, etc.
Skills to reconcile, organize, and file accounting paperwork as
well as correctly enter data into Kuali Financial System, MS Excel,
etc. with attention to detail.
Skills to organize tasks and determine priorities for a variety of
projects and assignments.
Preferred:
Experience using UC Davis' Kuali Financial System (KFS).
Knowledge and skills to perform cost effective use and ordering of
supplies and equipment.
