Job Description:

The Green Cluster is a large and diverse academic teaching, research, and outreach unit within the College of Letters and Science. The financial operations team supports the following units: Department of Anthropology, Anthropology Museum, Department of Sociology, and the Program in Middle East/South Asia Studies. The Cluster consists of two Department Chairs and a Director, approximately 60 Senate faculty, 135 non-Senate academic employees, 15 staff, 116 graduate student FTE, and 1200 undergraduate majors.

Job Summary

Under general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), supervise, manage, and provide high- level analytical support for the Green Cluster's financial operations. The Green Cluster is a large and complex academic administrative unit within the College of Letters and Science serving the following units: Department of Anthropology, Anthropology Museum, Department of Sociology, and the Program in Middle East/South Asia Studies.

The Business Office Manager independently oversees the financial operations for the Cluster which includes directly supervising the Business Operations Unit. This position is responsible for providing budget analysis, projections, reporting and long-range planning, grant management, travel, accounting, fiscal close, and other related duties. This position serves as account manager with approval authority for all intramural accounts within the Cluster and is expected to develop and maintain account structures and processes according to business office standards and campus financial policies.

This position supervises three employees in the Business Office and serves as the backup CAO when necessary. This position is responsible for recruiting, selecting, training, counseling on performance issues, and providing corrective action as needed to promote teamwork in a collaborative way, while adhering to various human resource policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

* Demonstrated experience and skill performing full range of supervisory responsibilities: recruit, select, train, motivate, mentor, discipline, and evaluate staff.
* Demonstrated experience with financial analysis to analyze data from a wide variety of sources and present statistical information in an appropriate, understandable format.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience with accepted accounting and audit principles and procedures, payroll and personnel policies, cost allocation methods, and fund restrictions in an academic environment.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

* Proven knowledge of business management principles and skill to provide leadership to staff of the business office of a large academic cluster.
* Organizational skills to schedule, coordinate, prioritize, implement, and close budget and fiscal activities of the faculty and operations of a large complex division including interpreting data from numerous sources related to the division's mission and programs.
* Demonstrated capacity to handle difficult, sensitive, and/or confidential matters.
* Proven ability to organize work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects, distribute effort appropriately to staff, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of productivity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:

* Demonstrated experience with UCPath, DaFIS, KFS, Aggie Travel, Aggie Service, Aggie Buy, ERS, DS, & Cognos.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex data and develop meaningful solutions to specific problems.
* Interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport and effectively communicate and interact with DSS Dean's Office, campus departments, Principal Investigators, CAOs, and staff to ensure compliance with UCD policy and procedures.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Outlook.
