Department Description

The mission of CalAgrAbility is to help individuals working in agriculture that have permanent conditions or injuries that hinder their efforts to continue working on farms. CalAgrAbility works with farmers, farm workers, farm families of all nationalities, ages, ethnicities, whether monolingual or bilingual. Other consumers include the broader community and service agencies that serve the same consumer-base. The project goal is to examine problems at farm sites and in homes and to offer rural consumers (clients) potential solutions for dealing with conditions that make it difficult for farmers and farm workers to continue work in agriculture. CalAgrAbility staff offers direct service to all individuals and families working in agriculture to help eliminate barriers for those with disabilities and injuries.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, work as part of a bilingual (Spanish/English) agricultural rehabilitation service delivery team to arrange and deliver services that will enhance program participant (rural residents in agricultural areas) opportunities to continue working in agriculture. Assist with established program protocol to help consumers acquire skills and knowledge to reduce barriers and to continue working; including education on Assistive Technologies, vocational rehabilitation services, injury and chronic illnesses. Follow standard practices to maintain up-to-date case files; participate in bilingual outreach activities, including delivering presentations, trainings, workshops; assist in marketing CalAgrAbility; assist in researching for producing newsletters and other bilingual materials


Salary Range

$16.14 - $32.42/HR.

Lift boxes of pamphlets weighing up to 30 lbs. On occasion perform work outdoors.

Valid CA driver's license and auto insurance to attend expos, festivals, and conferences, and participate in state and National committees and conferences.


Some weekend and evening work.

Must be able to work in a shared office area. Some outdoor work in rural areas, occasionally during hot days.

-Experience in delivering farming with a disability educational information in a variety of settings.

-Excellent public speaking and writing skills in both English and Spanish.

-Coursework or experience with farming and disability populations, including mental health.

-Ability to maintain positive interactions with others and work cooperatively.

-Experience using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.

-Organizational skills to develop a project plan, monitor plans against established deadlines, and review and analyze results.


Experience developing educational materials for disabled and farming communities.
