The incumbent will be part of a multi-disciplinary research team
devoted to development and promotion of optical sensing (detection
and diagnostics) of biotic stressors in crop plants and to use of
drones to deliver natural enemies in infested crops. Responsible
for the design, management and implementation of Unmanned Aerial
System used to acquire hyperspectral imaging data from experimental
plants and commercial crop plants under different biotic stress
regimes. Plan missions and prepare, operate, and troubleshoot
drones during missions. Work with lab staff to define UAS data
collection needs. Research new and innovative UAS technologies and
apply technologies to research as appropriate. Analysis UAS
collected data for use in research projects.

-Bachelor's degree in GIS/Remote sensing or in related area, or
-Practical/commercial experience as a fully certified drone
-Experience with agricultural applications of remote sensing.
-Proven knowledge of statistical analyses/classification of remote
sensing data to resolve a variety of analysis and research

assignments and demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and
techniques for obtaining accurate and meaningful solutions.
Proven industry contact network and ability to recruit and
facilitate collaboration with industry partners.
Ability to collaborate with industry partners and other
stakeholders, identify data needs and assist with questions or
problems regarding use of UAS applications.
Ability to effectively communicate with direct supervisor and team
members is of major importance.
Ability to lead and out-delegate is of major importance.
Experience with data management and presentation to commercial and
