Department PurposeStudent Housing and Dining Services (SHDS) is a self-supporting auxiliary that provides housing and dining services to approximately 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and students with families who live in on-campus residential facilities (university owner/managed and Public-Private-Partnerships), as well as providing residential, retail and catering dining services for the campus community. SHDS also provides student support and conference housing services to the campus and general community. The Residential Education Office, within SHDS, provides a wide variety of support and programs to on-campus residents (a 24/7 operation). The department also assists the campus with a number of transitional support programs for students. The office has -20 FTE professional positions and 150+ student staff positions.Job Summary Reporting to the Associate Director - Residential Education, the Assistant Director - Residential Education supervises complex multi-function programs, including one or more residential areas housing up to 3500 students. The residential housing areas assigned might include residence halls for first-year students, apartments designed for transfer students and/or apartments for graduate students/students with families. This position provides direction to professional and student staff related to guidelines, procedures and processes. Major responsibilities include the following: supervision, program development, administration, training and assessment. Account Manager responsibilities require following campus policies and practices to ensure transactions are reviewed, processed in a timely fashion, and meet budget expectations. This is a critical position that also assesses the overall program offered to students in Student Housing and serves in an on-call capacity for student crises and risk management.POSITION INFORMATION Salary Range $59,300/annually - $112,500/annually No. of Positions 1 Appointment Type Career Percentage of Time Full-Time, 100% Shift Hours Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Location Davis, CA. Work occasional evenings or weekends.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education/Experience:
Extensive experience in college student personnel, higher education administration, or a related field, including understanding of applicable laws and regulations, demonstrated through education (B.S.) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive leadership and management experience in residential life programs. Experience in working with concepts and theories of college multi-cultural student development, and the impact of a residential living-learning environment on student development. Experience in team development, conflict resolution, techniques of budgeting, managerial accounting, quantitative decision-making, advising, and discipline. Experience responding to crisis situations and developing risk management policies and procedures, including independent problem solving and prioritization. Personnel management experience to select, train, direct, motivate and evaluate professional/student staff. Experience with working in a high volume, fast-paced environment with skills to develop, plan, and assess departmental goals and objectives; to achieve timely and accurate progress, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of productivity. Experience taking initiative with both independent and cooperative work.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
