Time Favorite Job Job Summary Department Purpose The School of
Education was established in 2002, building on an 85-year tradition
at UC Davis of working to strengthen public education. The School
offers preparation for the California teaching credential, master's
and doctoral-level programs for educational researchers and
practitioners, and professional development for educators
throughout Northern California. The School has 31 academic senate
faculty, nine continuing lecturer/supervisors, and 55 staff. The
School's total budget is over $30 million, and is comprised of
state general funds, tuition and self-supporting revenue. The
School also supports a dynamic and diverse program of research.
Faculty members and graduate students conduct research in numerous
research areas as diverse as academic language and literacy,
college access and persistence, citizen science, autism and
education, and much more. In addition, the School has various
research centers, including the Center for Community and Citizen
Science, Transformative Justice in Education, Wheelhouse: The
Center for Community College Leadership and Research, California
Education Lab, American Center for Teaching Shakespeare, Center for
Applied Policy in Education, Sacramento Area Science Project Center
and REEd (Resourcing Excellence in Education). REEd is a
university-based intermediary with deep ties to the TK-12 education
community across the state. REEd works to move research findings
into practice and building the capacity of education systems to
improve teaching and learning with the goal of reducing education
inequities. The Upward Bound Program in REEd is located in Etna and
Yreka, CA (4 and 4.5 hours north of Davis) and works in partnership
with administrators, educators and students in all levels of
education (K-16) in Siskiyou County. Please visit our website for
more information on the School: Under general supervision of the
REEd Senior Director, provide overall management and leadership,
and develop, direct and administer federally funded college
preparatory programs for low-income and/or educationally
disadvantaged high school students. Serve on North State Community
committees; coordinate student campus trips and enrichment
activities, and work individually with students to increase
awareness of educational opportunities. Prepare written reports
outlining program outcomes and effectiveness and maintain
responsibility for all annual performance reports for Upward Bound
programs in Shasta County. Work in partnership with administrators,
educators and students in all levels of education (K-16) in
Siskiyou County. **THIS POSITION IS ON-SITE IN ETNA, CA, NO

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Teaching, counseling/advising or youth development experience
serving large numbers of ethnically, educationally, and
linguistically diverse students.
- Experience with program development and management to design,
implement, and evaluate initiatives serving diverse communities.
Experience with academic preparation programs and outreach efforts
to increase the educational achievement, specifically among
students from diverse populations and language backgrounds.
- Experience assessing budgetary needs and overseeing budgetary
allocations Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Knowledge of fundamental school and academic program and
postsecondary institution principles and standards (admissions,
registration, financial aid, gift acceptance) policies and
procedures and experience communicating them to students and
parents both individually and in large groups.
- Communication skills to prepare written reports, proposals,
correspondence, assessments, email and other materials for a
variety of audiences.
- Interpersonal and leadership skills to interact with
individuals of varying backgrounds to establish and maintain
collaborative relationships.
- Leadership and decision-making skills to evaluate program/
student needs, problem-solve, chair meetings/ committees, and train

Education/Experience:
- Experience working with -TRIO -programs
- Experience to research, identify and validate student
activities and - programs.
- Experience recruiting, supervising and motivating staff.
