DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Annual and Special Gifts Program
provides leadership, coordination, and support services to help the
university meet its mission, strengthens philanthropic support and
focuses efforts on the university's highest priorities. Advance

team who will build UC Davis' next multi-billion-dollar fundraising
campaign. Development & Alumni Relations (DEVAR) provides
leadership in building enduring public trust, understanding, and
support for UC Davis and its mission of teaching, research, and
public service. DEVAR provides leadership, coordination and support
services to help the university meet its mission of research,
teaching and service by building philanthropic support and
executing approved fundraising programs that support the
university's highest priorities and initiatives.
JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Managing Executive Director
of Development, the Managing Director of Development (MDOD) will
lead a team of frontline fundraisers for the Annual & Special Gifts
program focused on the strategic identification, qualification and
cultivation of alumni, parents and friends of UC Davis throughout
California with a goal of building and maintaining a new pipeline
of prospects for the Annual Fund and for the university at large.
This position is a key participant in developing the strategy and
planning of development for the ASGP unit. As such, they will be
responsible for building relationships with internal and external
constituencies across the university to build and maintain a
collaborative culture that supports the philanthropic interests of
our donors. Guided by a "donor centered" approach, the incumbent
will solicit leadership annual gifts from prospects, while
developing a personal portfolio of well-qualified prospective
donors who, with careful cultivation, will make a major gift of
$50K+ in addition to leadership annual gifts. As part of this work,
they will direct efforts to identify new prospects through
researching background information on potential donors, developing
materials, marketing plans, and organizing related programs/events.
The MDOD will oversee the frontline fundraising staff and support
their efforts to manage their portfolios with prospects and donors
who have given at the leadership annual giving level or have
potential to give leadership annual, major or planned gifts. They
will also serve as development liaison with other units and
departments at UC Davis and UC Davis Health.
POSITION INFORMATION Position to remain open until filled. Initial
application review is 10/10/2023. Salary Range $103,500.00 -
$216,500.00/yr. Departmental Salary Budget is $103,500 -

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum License/Certification: * Bachelor's degree
or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum
Education/Experience: * A minimum of 5 years of fundraising
experience with proven ability to cultivate, solicit and steward
philanthropic gifts of $50K and above. * A minimum of 3 years of
experience supervising development professionals, or transferrable
experience mentoring fundraising professionals on qualifying,
cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts. * Experience
recruiting, training, evaluating, motivating, and coaching
employees of various backgrounds and identities. Documented
experience building a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
amongst team members. * Experience recruiting, training,

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): * Advanced written,
oral, and interpersonal communication skills. * Demonstrated skills
providing leadership and support to key development partners, such
as deans and faculty, as well as volunteers, trustees, and
development colleagues in carrying out their responsibilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience: * Higher
Education major gift fundraising experience with proven ability to
cultivate, solicit and steward philanthropic gifts of $1M and
above, including excellent knowledge of all aspects of a
college/university campus, including relevant issues for both the
campus and higher education including, applicable laws, rules,
regulations, institutional policies, etc. * 3+ years of experience
supervising development professionals, including managing them to
success in reaching individual metrics goals. * Experience or
working knowledge of public, land-grant, and/or agricultural and
environmental focused institutions. Preferred Knowledge, Skills,
and Abilities (KSA): * Political acumen, to establish and maintain
good working relationships at all organizational levels and with
outside constituencies, including donors and volunteers. SPECIAL
