The School of Veterinary Medicine serves the people of California

animals, including livestock, poultry, companion animals, captive
and free-ranging wildlife, exotic animals, birds, aquatic mammals
and fish, and animals used in biological and medical research. Our

statewide mission includes 28 research and clinical programs,
including clinical referral services; diagnostic testing services;
continuing education; extension; and community outreach.
Under general supervision of the VMTH Imaging Manager and within
general guidelines established by the Radiology Faculty, provide
technical support for ultrasound and radiographic examinations.
Assist students, residents and visiting clinicians in small animal
ultrasound and radiology. Provide administrative and maintenance
support for the Small Animal Ultrasound and Radiographic services.
Maintain a productive and harmonious relationship between the
clinical and research caseload in Small Animal Ultrasound and Small
RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after two
weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior
to the removal date.
$31.93 - $39.71/Hr.

-Maneuver/lift equipment and materials weighing up to 75
-Handle and manually restrain animals weighing up to 75 pounds.
-Contact with animals, including restraint of animals (sometimes
fractious) as required.
-May be required to wear protective clothing for extended periods
of time including: gown, coveralls, gloves, masks, face shields,
goggles, sleeves and head covers.
-Work occasional overtime and various hours on short notice
(including covering staff shortages and holiday shifts).
-This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and
review in accordance with Federal and State Laws/Regulations and
-Work under regular exposure to zoonotic diseases, anesthesia,
cleaning chemicals and exposure to radioactive patients.
-May require working with or around areas with sick animals,
hazardous materials, and/or infectious diseases, and distraught

-Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of
unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly
prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and

-Experience handling and restraining difficult, fractious small
animal patients to prevent them from causing harm to themselves,
people, or the equipment.
-Knowledge of the basic principles and physics of Ultrasound.
-Knowledge of the proper use of ultrasound imaging equipment and
troubleshooting of equipment failures.
-Knowledge of California Radiation Laws and Guidelines required
when using radiation producing equipment.
-Knowledge of radiographic techniques, patient positioning, and
equipment controls adequate enough to take radiographs according to
-Skills to collaborate with radiologists using correct anatomical,
physiological, and radiographic terms when discussing radiographic
-Skill to prioritize and schedule case load according to animals
condition, study required, time restraints, surgery schedules and
work force availability.
-Current CA Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
-Experience using Philips and Canon Ultrasound equipment.
-Experience using Eklin, Summit and Sedecal radiology
-Knowledge of ultrasonographic anatomy.
