Job Details Weekly Estimated Pay: $10,700 – $11,280 Practice Setting: Hospital – Level 1 Trauma Center (Oakland, California, zip 94602) Contract Length: 6 months (26 weeks) – locum tenens Start Date: June 8, 2026 Shift Details: 24-hour shifts (07:00 – 07:00); coverage includes weekends and nights; facility may consider providers who do 24-hour shifts on weekends (Fri–Sun) Schedule: Minimum 3–4 weekend or night shifts per month Call Requirements: No call EMR: Epic Position Type: Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist, General Anesthesia Required Qualifications Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology (new grads considered) Active California medical license required California DEA required BLS certification required Minimum Level 2 Trauma experience required; Level 1 Trauma experience highly preferred Comfortable and experienced in Labor & Delivery anesthesia, OR anesthesia, and Trauma anesthesia Experience supervising CRNAs and working independently as an anesthesia provider Bilingual skills preferred (helps for Oakland, CA patient population) Ability to complete medical requirements: TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Tdap, COVID-19, Influenza, pre-employment physical, Ishihara color vision test, and 8-panel drug screen Responsive communication for privileging and credentialing (privileging process typically 90–120 days) At least 1 year of clinical anesthesia experience required Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality general anesthesia care for surgical, obstetric, and trauma patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center Deliver perioperative and obstetric anesthesia services in Labor & Delivery, Operating Rooms, and Trauma units Independently manage anesthesia cases and supervise CRNAs as needed Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination to optimize patient outcomes Document anesthesia care and maintain accurate records using Epic EMR Adhere to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and safety standards for trauma and obstetric anesthesia Why Oakland, CA: Join a diverse community with a thriving arts scene, beautiful parks, and easy access to the San Francisco Bay.
