Department Description

The Plant Sciences Department Business Unit has an annual estimated operating budget for teaching, research and outreach of $40+ million, composed of state funds, extramural funds, endowments and sales income. This is a large complex department with 68 faculty and over 500 staff (representing 332 FTE) stationed on the Davis campus and at several off-campus locations throughout the state.

Departmental mission include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and outreach, including Cooperative Extension, in agricultural plant biology, crop and ecosystems sciences and horticultural sciences. Department faculties are housed in eight buildings on central campus and at various field stations. Provide service to over 40 greenhouses/head houses, and numerous other special facilities used in teaching, research and outreach. In addition to regularly scheduled classes, the faculties are responsible for a large number of seminar, internships, and research units each quarter.

Approximately 417 undergraduate students FTE are taught annually; there are six undergraduate majors with a total enrollment of 355 students; there are also 137 graduate students.

Job Summary

Under general supervision of Business Office Manager, responsible for Gift Acceptance, Cash Collections, Accounts Receivables. Responsible for Travel, Keys, conference room calendars, property loss reporting. Reconcile default subaccounts under gift/AR accounts. Responsible for Travel.

This is a 75% variable position.

Work as part of a team-directed work group in Plant Sciences.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

-Experience with Gift administration, processing travel documents, and reconciliation of CTS accounts.

-Experience with Accounts Receivables, mathematical skills to accurately process accounting documents

-Experience using calendaring systems, Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and Firefox and Internet Explorer to accomplish work assignments.

-Experience using writing, editing, proofreading skills with usage of appropriate grammar to provide clear, concise and effective communication documents.

-Organizational and time management skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload and to use independent judgment to make logical decisions.

-Experience using interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and to research, secure, and/or provide information to clarify situations, and resolve problems

Preferred:

-Experience with UC Davis automated financial systems (DaFIS, Kuali, DaFIS-DS).

-Critical thinking and problem-solving experience to analyze data and develop meaningful solutions to specific problems.

-Read and follow the UC Davis Principles of Community.
