Job Summary
#CA-SSThe position reports to the Center for Occupational and
Environmental Health (COEH) in the Department of Public Health
Sciences. The core activities of the COEH are to educate future
leaders in occupational and environmental health, develop new
knowledge, and bring the resources of the University of California
to people affected by health hazards in their workplaces or
communities. Under the general direction of the Public Health the
incumbent works under the daily direction of the Research Scientist
Supervisor (RSS) I (Epidemiology/Biostatistics), Chief, ORH. This
position supports CDPH's mission and strategic plan by providing
subject matter expertise, leadership, coordination, and project
management to promote the health and well-being of refugee and
other Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) eligible
populations.
The Health Educator (HE) 4 provides the most complex and technical
administrative response to support the operation of the Office of
Refugee Health (ORH), including the coordination of and access to
healthcare services, with a wide variety of health promotion, for
new refugee arrivals throughout California. The goal is to reduce
health disparities for this vulnerable population and improve
health equity and correspondence with grantees. HE 4 also provides
analysis of policy for recommendations and coordination of
healthcare services for eligible populations by working through
outreach in collaboration with federal and state partners, local
health jurisdictions, and community partners to ensure increased
healthcare access for new refugee arrivals throughout
