The Office of Research (OR) is charged with advancing the research
mission of UC Davis including providing services and resources that
enhance research and other creative endeavors, establishing and
deepening relationships with government and industry, policy
compliance, and oversight of an infrastructure of organized
research. OR oversees over 22 organized research units, special
research programs and projects, and central facilities with
approximately 1,119 employees, $137 million in annual expenditures
across multiple fund sources, and annual recharge income activity
of $22 million. OR also administers a range of seed funding
initiatives and campus' research support programs. The central
administration units of OR are comprised of approximately 167
Interdisciplinary Research & Strategic Initiatives (IR&SI), in
the Office of Research, works with faculty and staff to leverage
and expand research programs at UC Davis through partnerships with
Federal, State and private entities, developing relationships with
sponsoring agencies and facilitating, developing and reviewing
interdisciplinary research efforts and multi-user facilities.
Wherever possible, IR&SI collaboratively develops mechanisms to
alleviate barriers to interdisciplinary research imposed by
systemic campus conditions. The IR&SI division consists of
three units: Interdisciplinary Research Support, Strategic
Initiatives and Research Unit Development.
Under direction of the Strategic Initiatives Manager, support the
Associate Vice Chancellor for Interdisciplinary Research &
Strategic Initiatives (AVC-IR&SI) and Strategic Initiatives
(SI) senior leadership in developing research initiatives and
forging and developing partnerships across campus and with other
universities, national labs, international and domestic partners
and other entities.
Provide analytical support developing, managing and executing
comprehensive engagement strategies and plans for these
partnerships. Conduct research and analyze/compile data.
Assist in the completion of action items for the SI senior
leadership or AVC to develop initiatives and/or collaborations with
high-level university, national laboratory, institution and
industry executives, government officials and community leaders and
international and domestic partners. Assist with the development of
'seed-funding' research programs, and research-focused events.
Serve as primary analytical support to the Microbiome Special
Research Program (SRP) by assisting in the launch and management of
the Seed Grant Program. Provide design and editorial support for
the Microbiome SRP website and its electronic communications
(including emails, social media, etc.). Coordinate all activities,
meetings and communications for the Microbiome SRP.
$25.10 - $51.34/HR. Max Budgeted salary is $27.67/HR

Monday Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
