Position Summary:
The Business Analyst is responsible for applying analytical processes to the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved business information systems and business processes to meet UCANR's business needs. The Business Analyst leverages multiple platforms and tools to conduct intermediate to advanced analysis to support effective leadership and stakeholder decision-making as it pertains to information technology (IT) projects. Serves as the conduit between stakeholders / business and UCANR's IT team to translate business requirements into IT solutions. This position will work closely with the UCANR's project managers in delivering on IT solutions to meet the business needs of UCANR.

This position is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed for up to three years with the possibility of extension.

Salary - Min: $65,200.00/year to Mid: $93,200.00/year

Key Responsibilities:
40% Support UCANR's IT project managers including scribing, taking meeting minutes, developing project charters, documenting issues/risks/decisions, plans, and performing any other tasks in support of UCANR's IT projects; Back-up UCANR's project managers when they are unavailable

30% Applies business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define complex systems scope and objectives with an understanding of applicable business practices, processes, systems and industry standards to meet end-user needs. Leverages advanced data tools such as Excel, Visio, and/or Power BI in these efforts and participates in cross-functional teams to analyze complex business or systems issues

25% Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting requirements and revising existing system and process logic issues as necessary

5% Provides support and training on new applications

Conditions of Employment:
Employment is contingent upon successfully clearing the FBI/DOJ background check both from the Department of Justice and the FBI, prior to the first day of UC Employment.

  • Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.
  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills.
  • In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.
  • Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures with proficiency in creating business process flows / diagrams using Visio.
  • Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT.
  • Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

    Preferred Skills:
  • Broad knowledge relating to software design.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  • Experience with human capital management systems covering human resources and payroll with preference in higher education background.
